Cover up!

Today while standing in the lovely AC at the shop, we were thinking about how crazy hot it is outside (we’re in for a brutal summer, for sure!), but noticed that there are several occasions where we still find ourselves needing a light cardigan or jacket. Summer maxi dresses and tank tops are perfect on their own when we’re out in the sun, but I always find myself wanting something to cover up with when I go into a chilly restaurant or movie theater. We’ve rounded up a few great and stylish options for you, below!

Layaway, what’s that?

Did you know that at Designer Renaissance we offer layaway? Not many local or small businesses have layaway as an option, but it’s a great way to buy an item without having to pay for it entirely up front. We know what it’s like to walk away from a great piece because of the price and return a few days later only to find it has been purchased by someone else- how awful! Layaway is the perfect solution to that dreaded situation.

So how does it work? Well, it’s quite simple. If you find an item that you would like to put on layaway, you pay half of the selling price today, and in 30 days you pay the rest and it’s yours! It’s an especially great option if you are looking at an investment item like a designer bag (we have some amazing Louis Vuitton’s in store right now…).

We’ve found some great examples of pieces that you might put on layaway:

Looks for Less, Part 2!

Over at Designer Renaissance putting together new outfits for the mannequins is one of our favorite things to do! We’ve gotten in TONS of great pieces over the past week and couldn’t wait to style a few new ones. Here are our favorites:

ImageBeaded Top- Lulumari sz S $36

Cardigan- Lidia sz S $16

Leopard Print Scarf- $10

Linen Shorts- Covet sz 6 $32

Chain Belt- $16

This is a great transitional outfit. Wear it during the day with a little cardigan and flats or gladiator sandals, and pair it with some funky earrings and heels for night!

Paisley Blouse- J Crew sz s $20

Cream Blouse (worn underneath)- Built by Wendy sz 6 $48

Skirt- Billy Reid sz 2, $90

Purse- Gianni Bernini $20

This outfit is a great example of how you can mix prints and patterns. The neutral colors in the blouses work perfectly with the louder polka dot skirt. Speaking of the skirt, it is made by local designer Billy Reid. Last night he was awarded Menswear Designer of the Year at the CFDA awards, one of the biggest honors in fashion! And did I mention that the skirt is on sale for $90?!

Blue Tee (worn underneath)- Theory sz S/M $24

Beaded Vest- Star CCC sz S/M $12

Another great example of the different ways you can layer pieces in your wardrobe, we’ve put a fabulous open vest over an everyday long sleeve top to give it some flair! Keep it from looking frumpy by belting it, and pair it with a bright pair of shorts or cropped skinny jeans!

ImageSilk Tank- Notice sz XS $20

Cream Jacket- Nanette Lepore sz 2 $68

Braided Leather Belt- $12

Skirt- Madhouse sz XS $4

This little Nanette Lepore jacket is a favorite of ours! It’s a great neutral shade of cream that pairs well with almost any other color, and it’s the perfect little thing to throw on to dress up any outfit just a bit.
