Want the cake and your outfit too?

It’s tough dressing up knowing you’ll be stuffing yourself at your special holiday meal.  So, I’ve come up with some helpful tips on how to dress for your future overeating escapades.

Tip #1: NO Belts!  Unless you want to look super ladylike and undo your belt a couple of notches like your Uncle and Father-in-law then do not wear one.

Tip #2: A blazer or cute jacket is a great piece to add over a tight dress or simply to hide any unwanted Holiday fluff.

Tip #3: Try anything with an empire waist.  It gives you a nice slim waist and doesn’t hug your tummy so you are free to eat that third piece of pie!

Tip #4: Get a cute oversized shirt or tunic and pair it with skinny jeans or leggings!

Tip #5: Unless you want to be sucking in your tummy all night, stay away from anything high-waisted.

Tip #6: But really, just wear something you are comfortable in–this isn’t Kitchen Fashion Week!

This top can be dressed up and down!  So try it with some dark skinny jeans or some dress pants.

Vineyard Vines (top): $20.00; Gold Hawk (top): $40.00; necklace: $16.00

This sweater is comfy and it has some accents that help camouflage certain problem areas.  : )

J. Crew (skirt): $14.00; J. Crew (sweater): $36.00; necklace: $12.00; pearl necklace: $20.00

Instead of putting tights with this try a pair of leggings–they are not as restricting.

Juicy (blazer): $48.00; Max & Cleo (dress): $30.00; Torsade (necklace): $20.00

These are just a few ideas, if you think of anymore tips let me know in the comment section!

Summer Lives On

Can’t go without your favorite Summer tops throughout Winter?  Well, don’t fret.  Here at Designer Renaissance we love using a little technique called: Layering.  Using this wonderful trick, I’ve taken a Ralph Lauren silk sheer blouse with no sleeves (selling here for $40.00) and made it part of three Fall/Winter looks.  Now you can save money by using your summer clothes throughout the whole year!  Imagine that!  Now let Summer live on.

BCBG MaxAzria (jacket): $48.00; Splendid (cardigan): $36.00; Blank (jeans): $40.00;

belt: $12.00; Chico’s (necklace): $16.00

Banana Republic (dress): $16.00; Eileen Fisher (top): $28.00; Foxmoor (jacket): $48.00; Chico’s (necklace): $24.00

PS: Please wear this with some sweater tights to keep warm : )

J. Crew (cardigan): $16.00; H & M (pants): $8.00; Sao Paulo (sweater): $8.00; Chico’s (necklace): $20.00

PS: Skinny jeans are still hot now, but flares and bell bottoms are coming back in!

Stay warm!
